Shared Decision Making

Development of a framework for economic evlauations of patient decision aids used in shared decision making

The objective of the proposed research is to develop a conceptual framework for economic evaluations of patient decision aids (PDA) used in shared decision making (SDM). The framework will be infromed by a systematic literature review of existing economic evaluations of PDAs and a review of existing systematic reviews of PDAs and SDM. A workshop of experts in the field of PDAs and SDM will be held to discuss potential issues, challenges and potential variations from standard economic evaluations.

 Evaluation and Case Studies

The objective of the proposed research will be to evaluate data collected from patients using PDAs and to apply the conceptual framework developed in the initial stages, to conduct an economic evaluation of a PDA used in a SDM process. Discussions are currently ongoing with several clinical teams in an effort to identify suitable data from either general clinical practice or an ongoing clinical study. If you are interested in collaborating with us on this and think you may have appropriate data, please contact us for more details of our requirements and to discuss the project in more detail.
